We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Packager and Shipment Specialist to join our dynamic logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for packaging products efficiently and ensuring timely shipment. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
A shipping specialist is also known as a shipping clerk. In this career, you document and process a shipment to ensure customers receive timely deliveries. Your duties include tracking and inspecting all incoming and outgoing products, designing schedules, recording information and weighing packages, preparing and attaching labels on packaging, and collaborating with management, vendors, and transportation departments. Communication skills are vital.
Key Responsibilities:
Packaging:
- Accurately package products according to specified guidelines and standards.
- Inspect items for damage and report any discrepancies or defects.
- Utilize various packaging materials and tools to secure items for transport.
- Label packages with appropriate shipping information and barcodes.
Shipment Preparation:
- Prepare and organize shipments for daily dispatch.
- Ensure all packages are correctly addressed and labeled.
- Coordinate with the inventory team to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
- Generate and print shipping labels, packing slips, and other necessary documentation.
Inventory Management:
- Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy by properly logging outgoing shipments.
- Conduct regular stock checks and report any inventory shortages or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the inventory team to manage stock levels and reorder supplies as needed.
Quality Control:
- Conduct final quality checks on packaged products to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Address any issues or errors identified during the packaging and shipping process.
Logistics Coordination:
- Schedule pickups and deliveries with courier services and freight carriers.
- Track shipments and update relevant stakeholders on the status of orders.
- Handle customer inquiries and concerns regarding shipments and delivery times.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations within the packaging and shipping area.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping regulations.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in packaging, shipping, or a related field preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate packaging tools and machinery.
- Proficiency with shipping software and inventory management systems.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy packages (up to 50 lbs).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
